NAF AHS Academy of Engineering

AHS NAF Academy of Engineering Students at Manufacturing Day 2018

Our students were able to participate in this year’s Manufacturing Day where industries open their doors and allow students to experience how engineering principles they learn in the classroom apply to the workplace.  Azusa engineering students visited Brenner-Fielder this year. Brenner-Fielder is a premier Automation & Pneumatic provider for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end-users. They offer advanced solutions including process automation.

Students took part in tours where employees of the company demonstrated various projects that were taking place including robotic assembly lines, group projects and automation.  Every year this event proves to be invaluable to our students as it allows them to visit worksites to see where their classroom theory can be applied for their possible future careers.

PROJECT LEAD THE WAY (PLTW) ENGINEERING

Introduction to Engineering Design

This is a one year course - two consecutive semesters. Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) is a high school level course that is appropriate for 9th grade students who are interested in design and engineering. Students are introduced to the engineering profession and a common approach to the solution of engineering problems and engineering design process. Utilizing the activity-project-problem-based (APB) teaching and learning pedagogy, students will progress from completing structured activities to solving open-ended projects and problems that require them to develop planning, documentation, communication, and other professional skills. This course meets the “F” requirement for a-g.
